Tell us a little about your company.
Medical Justice provides a number of services to protect physicians from frivolous lawsuits. It turns out that 80 percent of the suits filed against doctors have no merit, but still end up costing physicians thousands of dollars. So that was the original concept — a company to protect physicians run by physicians.
How did you get your start in the Nussbaum Center?
We started our business in a room above a garage. But after learning about the Nussbaum Center, and the resources and office space they provide, it was a no-brainer to come here. We put together a business plan, which was reviewed by the group here. Once that was OK’d, we got our start.
How has the Nussbaum Center helped your business grow?
It was great because it gave us some office space and some flexibility. We started off with two offices here; we now have seven. The center is hands-off, but they do provide resources. For instance, we’ve used resources such as information technology and human-resource companies that were already here. Also, if someone needs to develop their marketing plan, the center is there to provide that. So while they don’t get too involved in your business, they are there for you when you need them. It’s just a great, great service.
