Searching for a new way to enjoy the great outdoors? Look no further than the Greensboro Ski & Outing Club (GSOC), a local group that offers something for everyone — whether you are looking to be more active or connect with new friends.

Chartered in 1968, the nonprofit GSOC offers its 300 members a vast range of outdoor and social activities. Bill Hoffman, the club’s president, notes that “half of the club members are skiers, and the other half focus on the other activities.” Member interest runs the gamut from organized slope activities like skiing, ski racing, and snowboarding, to warmer weather options such as cycling, golf, sailing, rafting, hiking, camping, canoeing, and more.

May is a full month for the group, and planned events include a wine tour, benefit walk, 25K and 50K bike rides, coed volleyball, and an annual golf tournament. Fall presents a deep-sea fishing trip, and winter will bring an assortment of ski dates. GSOC is part of the Crescent Ski Council, which offers additional events and trips in the Southeast at no extra cost. — Lee Mortensen
