“It’s important to find what feeds your passion,” says designer MM Reynolds of Forms & Fixtures. “If you’re fortunate enough to find it, then you will truly be a person of passion in all you do.” These are words to live by, no doubt, and Reynolds means them with all her heart.

Interestingly, her passion is starting businesses. In fact, Reynolds, who studied interior architecture at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has started six in her lifetime. “I love coming up with an idea and seeing it through to the point where it’s up and running,” she says.

One of her ideas, Forms & Fixtures, began nearly six years ago when she was installing a bathroom vanity she purchased from a friend, who told Reynolds that she should be putting her talents to work in this business. That sparked an idea for a local industry that specializes in designing award-winning fixtures for the kitchen and bath.

Forms & Fixtures operates here in the Triad, with all work done by nearby craftsmen — a crucial requirement for Reynolds. “We found that when we outsourced our work, we were a small company competing for time with big companies. We didn’t get the attention that we felt our work deserved,” she explains. By producing their pieces locally, Forms & Fixtures is able to tap into a rich reservoir of area talent and feed local growth at the same time.

Reynolds says she enjoys the creativity of designing simple, contemporary pieces that will live beautifully in homes. And when asked what’s on the horizon, she has a natural, passion-driven reply: “Another company, actually.” Stay tuned.
