True classics never go out of style, hence the revival of knitting. Recently, young and old have tapped into their crafty side and rediscovered this fun way to create; and, fortunately, lifelong knitter Kim Opdyke is happy to help.
Opdyke founded This & That yarn boutique five years ago, she says, “because I always knew I wanted my own store.” Opdyke learned to knit from her grandmother, and says she now aims to share the skill with her community.
Catering to the serious knitter, the store boasts specialty yarns from Europe, South America, and Australia, as well as about a dozen classes each week for all skill levels.
The shop is also home to Camille’s at This & That — its clothing and accessories alter ego. “I added clothes earlier this year because I have an 18-year-old daughter and it was hard to find clothes she liked that all her friends didn’t have,” Opdyke explains.
Her older knitting customers liked the clothing so much that she expanded her selections to incorporate trendy-yet-affordable items for a wider age range.
A recent relocation to a bigger space has allowed Opdyke to expand both sides of the store while still maintaining a cozy, eclectic vibe — ensuring This & That customers no longer hit the highway to find their fabric fix.
This & That is at 3712 Lawndale Drive. For information, call 336-288-0034.
